Attention parents - This Saturday, February 4th, is SAO's ALL Star Basketball Day - Because many of our indoor 5th-8th grade boys and girls will participate in this event we are offering a co-ed indoor session from 10 am - 12 pm for all registered indoor 5th-8th grade members. Come for part of the 2 hours or the whole time for an extended session. Good Luck to the SAO All Stars!

Indoor Soccer Schedule- Winter 2012

Sessions Begin Tuesday, January 17th.

Monday Sessions begin Monday, January 23rd due to Martin Luther King Holiday.

U4 & U5 Clinic (boys and girls) -Monday at Yellin Main Gym 6:00-7:00 PM

U6 & U7 Clinic League Boys- Monday at Parkview Gym 6:15-7:15 PM

U6 & U7 Clinic League Girls- Tuesday at Somerdale Park School Gym 6:30-7:30 PM

U8 thru U10 (Travel & Rec League) Boys- Tuesday at Somerdale Park School Gym 7:45-8:45 PM

Travel and Tryout Info

All players must attend at least one tryout to be considered for a travel team, no exceptions. Tryout schedules will be posted by registration (May 3rd).

Sterling Junior Soccer Camp

The Sterling Junior Soccer Camp is back for its 4th year and will provide soccer instruction to 6-14 year old boys and girls. The camp will take place evenings, Monday, July 25th thru Friday, July 29th. Children ages 6-10 will receive instruction from 5:30-7:00PM and children ages 11-14 will receive instruction from 7:00-8:30PM each evening. The camp will take place at the Yellin School field adjacent to the Tarkill Clubhouse on Warwick Road.

All camp participants will receive 5 days of instruction from Sterling Varsity Coach Pete Marleys and Wyndam Sports. All participants will receive an appropriately sized ball and camp t-shirt.

Cost of the camp is $35.00 per child for currently registered Tarkill members and $60.00 per non-member child.

U-5 Clinic

3&4 year old boys and girls will be placed in this clinic group together to learn the basics of soccer. Basic skills will be taught in a small group format to allow all children to progress at their own pace. Individualized instruction will allow each child to learn as they feel comfortable. A Saturday morning session from the week after Labor Day through mid-November will be the only commitment required for this level. No weekday/evening practices will be required. This format provides a great opportunity for a parent to become involved and also earn their bond.

Parents must provide cleats and shinguards. Tarkill will provide a T-shirt, ball, and a trophy at the end of the year. Fall registration costs also cover our indoor sessions which run from January through March. Details regarding indoor will be posted in December.

U-6 & U-7 Clinic

The Tarkill boys and girls U-6 & U-7 Clinic provides basic fundamentals, supervised instruction, and the building of self-esteem.

Age group: 5-6 year old boys and girls
Games: Saturday morning games
Practices: One per week

The main emphasis is always on the development of a positive environment for a child to grow their soccer knowledge physically as well as mentally in a healthy, free spirited approach. A parent's encouragement is very important to this age and is the key ingredient to a child's interest and how far they develop in the program.

Children are placed on small teams (6 to 8 kids) by gender.

Games will be played on Saturdays beginning the week after Labor Day. Games are small sided (4v4 no goalies).

Practices begin in August and games run into November.

Teams practice once a week, day/time determined by coach.

Parents must provide shinguards/ cleats. Tarkill provides a team T-shirt and a trophy at the end of the season.

Fall registration fees also cover indoor sessions. Indoor details will be posted in December.

Recreation (U-8-U10)

"In-town" league for boys and girls

Mini-Novice: age 7 thru 10 (boys and girls play separately).

Emphasis on player development and enjoyment of the game.

Game Days are on Saturday Morning with occasional Friday night games under the lights. Practice is twice a week, time and day to be determined by coach.

Small Sided 6v6 format with goalie. Mini-Novice Rules of the Game govern.

Games begin the Saturday after Labor Day and last through November.

Game format is: Two 20 minute halves with a five minute half time. Referee provided.

Recreation players are eligible to play Indoor starting first week in Jan through the end of March. No additional fee required. Parents must provide shinguards/cleats. Tarkill will provide full uniforms and a trophy at the end of the season.

Recreation Travel League (5th through 8th Grades)

Tarkill Soccer Club is proud to announce a new opportunity for our Recreation club players. Tarkill has joined together with 3 local area soccer clubs; Haddon Heights, Barrington, and Lindenwold Soccer Clubs to form what we are calling the White Horse Pike “friendship” recreation league.

The goal of this new program is to allow those club members that do not participate in our traditional Boys & Girls Travel programs as they get older to play in an older youth recreation program. This new offering will allow Tarkill Soccer Club to fulfill it’s commitment of providing a place for every child to play the game of soccer and enhance the growth of the sport.

The format for this new league will be as follows:

1) Older Recreation players in grades 5^th through 8^th will be grouped into age appropriate CO-ED teams.

2) The teams will play an 8 v 8 format with goalies following the SJSL Travel rules. (see www.sjsl.org for 8v8 field layout and rules)

3) Teams entered into the league will play on Friday nights and some Saturday mornings.

4) Teams will follow a Home and Away schedule based on the number of teams formed within the league and age brackets.

Travel (U8 thru U-16)

Travel teams participate in (SJSL) South Jersey Soccer League and (SJGSL) South Jersey Girls Soccer League.

Travel Divisions U-8 through U-10 play in a 8v8 format. The U-11 through U-18 play in a 11v11 format.

Girls play on Saturdays (start times between 1130AM and 330PM)

Boys play Sundays (start times between 1130AM and 330PM)

Team play 5 home games (Yellin School/ 8v8 or Sterling H.S./11v11) and 5 away games. Opponents and schedule are dictated by the league.

Practice begins in August and runs 2-3 times per week. Days/times determined by the coach.

If tryouts are needed for a particular team, selections are determined by that teams' coaches. (Tryouts will be listed by first week of May)

Registration costs cover uniforms and all fees associated with league play. Any additional costs (tournaments or alternate jerseys) are the responsibilities of each player and will not be covered by Tarkill.

Parents must provide shinguards and cleats.

Indoor Soccer

Tarkill strives to provide as much soccer as we can for our members. Over the past two years, we have teamed with local school boards and governments to offer free indoor soccer for our club members. We utilize local gymnasiums to provide free indoor soccer from January through March. The sessions are organized by age and are loosely structured "pick up" games. This allows children to just play the game with limited coaching and offers parents a program that they do not have to commit to. It is a great way for the kids to have fun, burn off some excess winter energy, and keep a ball on their foot!
